Julie San Martin – President
Moved to St Croix with her family in 1957, learned to sail in Christiansted Harbor with the St Croix Yacht Club sailing program. Started early in Multihulls, sailing the Caribbean with Dick Newick, her parents, and siblings in the 1960s on the AyAy, a 40’ catamaran. Former Fleet Captain and Commodore of the St Croix Yacht Club, still sailing Multihulls. Regatta organizer, scorekeeper, and race committee member since the late 1980’s.
Hollis Jenkins – Vice President
Hollis moved to St. Thomas in 1991 where she met her husband, Timothy. She has been a member of the St. Thomas Yacht Club since the early 90’s and is active as a race committee member and a regatta organizer including the International Opti Regatta. She is a member for the Board of Governors at the St. Thomas Yacht Club. She and her husband run a charter company comprised of power and sailboats. Her son Tanner, has sailed in a variety of boats since he was 5 years old including optimists, 420’s and Lasers. As VP, she has administered the annual sailor status qualifications.
Margaret Majette – Treasurer

Margaret grew up sailing the Maine Coast out of Portland Yacht Club, and winter trips throughout the US and BVI. In 1989, she delivered a boat from Maine to St Thomas and made St John her home upon arrival. In her 30 years in the VI, Margaret remains active racing in local regattas, and promoting Junior Sailing in the USVI.
Meg McCarthy Deegan – Secretary
Meg is relatively new to the Virgin Islands. Member of St. Croix Yacht Club since 2006, she has enjoyed sailing, racing and being a charter boat captain in the Caribbean since then. She is a past Waterfront Coordinator at St. Croix Yacht Club where she improved access to all who want to sail.
A life-long sailor, Meg has cruised New England on her family 1971 Bermuda 40 since new. She is also a member of Beverly Yacht Club in Marion, MA where she has taught in the Women’s Keelboat Racing Program on J24s for over 20 years. As a member of Hyannis Yacht Club in Hyannis, MA, she teaches adult sailing and has organized member cruises around New England.
Peter Stanton – Olympic Officer
His family moved to the USVI in 1989. Both his parents have been involved in the marine industry most of their life. He started sailing at the St. Croix Yacht Club in 1994 and had graduated through all their programs, worked as an assistant and instructor for those programs as well. He and his brothers (Chris and Scott) have been representing the USVI internationally since they were 14. In 1999 Peter became the Sunfish World Champion and has gone on to represent the USVI in 4 CAC Games, 3 Pan Am Games, Optimist worlds, Sunfish Worlds and multiple keel boat events throughout the Caribbean. He sailed for Eckerd College for four years, keeping the team in the top 20 schools, all four years. After college, Peter moved back St. Croix and became the High-school Sailing coach as well as Fleet Captain for the St. Croix Yacht Club. He continues to support all sailing in St. Croix and is actively still representing the Virgin Islands.
